The Development Brief (The D-Brief Media) was established in 2026 by development journalists and communication professionals with over a decade of experience reporting on development topics and curating development communication.

At a time when the Global South is witnessing dwindling development aid, an increase in the impact of climate change, polarized geopolitics, frequent pandemics and an imminent breach of planetary boundaries, development journalism that delves into these issues with clarity and balance is important.

Unlike legacy media that treats development communication with the caution not to fall into impact puffery, The D-Brief hopes to embrace development communication while interrogating the development issues of our time with the importance and urgency it deserves with a view to reporting the pitfalls, realities and solutions to contemporary development problems.
